Keep several ways to pay: cash, at least two physical cards from different card networks, and a payment service on your phone. Cards and digital payments can go down. The Riksbank recommends (4 March 2026) SEK 1,000 in cash per adult. A physical chip card may enable an offline payment during an outage, but availability depends on the card, bank, terminal and retailer; check with your bank and the retailer.
